Information procurement

Information procurement is our daily bread. A situation may well be tackled in another way or a different strategy adopted if one has clear knowledge of background factors and surrounding conditions. However, it is not as simple as one might expect from crime series on German TV such as "Lenßen & Partner". On television, the lawyer just has to grab the phone, call a friend in the police force, state a car registration number and bingo, he is promptly told the owner, to say nothing of the subscriber of a secret phone number and other information. When such matters are then so obviously distorted on screen, one may just as well play Monopoly: go directly to jail without passing Go! A professional therefore asks himself whether Mr Lenßen still has his lawyer's license. Yet as they say: "There's no business like show business", the entertainment industry has never been worried about trivial considerations like reality.
